Translation

Bilal bin Yasar bin Zaid [the freed slave of the Prophet(ﷺ)] narrated: “My father narrated to me, from my grandfather, that he heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: ‘Whoever says: “I seek forgiveness from Allah, the Magnificent, whom there is none worthy of worship but Him, the Living, Al-Qayyum, and I repent to him,” (Astaghfirullāhal-`Aẓīm alladhī lā ilāha illā huwal-Ḥayyul-Qayyūmu wa atūbu ilaih) then Allah will forgive him, even if he fled from battle.’”

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الشَّنِّيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عُمَرُ بْنُ مُرَّةَ، قَال:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ بِلَالَ بْنَ يَسَارِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ مَوْلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ جَدِّي، سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيَّ الْقَيُّومَ،‏‏‏‏ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ غُفِرَ لَهُ وَإِنْ كَانَ فَرَّ مِنَ الزَّحْفِ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ.

زید رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ انہوں نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا: ”جو شخص کہے: «أستغفر الله العظيم الذي لا إله إلا هو الحي القيوم وأتوب إليه» ”میں مغفرت مانگتا ہوں اس بزرگ و برتر اللہ سے جس کے سوا کوئی معبود برحق نہیں ہے، جو زندہ ہے اور ہر چیز کا نگہبان ہے اور میں اسی کی طرف رجوع کرتا ہوں“، تو اس کی مغفرت کر دی جائے گی اگرچہ وہ لشکر ( و فوج ) سے بھاگ ہی کیوں نہ آیا ہو۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث غریب ہے، ہم اسے صرف اسی سند سے جانتے ہیں۔

`Uthman bin Hunaif narrated that a blind man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: “Supplicate to Allah to heal me.” He (ﷺ) said: “If you wish I will supplicate for you, and if you wish, you can be patient, for that is better for you.” He said: “Then supplicate to Him.” He said: “So he ordered him to perform Wudu’ and to make his Wudu’ complete, and to supplicate with this supplication: ‘O Allah, I ask You and turn towards You by Your Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), the Prophet of Mercy. Indeed, I have turned to my Lord, by means of You, concerning this need of mine, so that it can be resolved, so O Allah so accept his intercession for me (Allāhumma innī as’aluka wa atawajjahu ilaika binabiyyka Muḥammadin nabi-ir-raḥmati, innī tawajjahtu bika ila rabbī fī ḥājatī hādhihī lituqḍā lī, Allāhumma fashaffi`hu fīyya).’”

Abu Umamah [may Allah be pleased with him] said: `Amr bin `Abasah reported to me that he heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: “The closest that the Lord is to a worshipper is during the last part of the night, so if you are able to be of those who remember Allah in that hour, then do so.”

`Umarah bin Za`karah said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying; ‘Indeed, Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, says: “Indeed My worshipper who is entirely My slave is the one who remembers Me when he is about to meet his enemy.” That is: “At the time of fighting.”

Qais bin Sa`d bin `Ubadah narrated, : that his father offered him to the Prophet (ﷺ) to serve him. He said: “So the Prophet (ﷺ) passed by me, and I had just performed Salat, so he poked me with his foot and said: ‘Should I not direct you to a gate from the gates of Paradise?’ I said: ‘Of course.’ He (ﷺ) said: ‘There is no might or power except with Allah (Lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh).’”

Humaidah bint Yasir narrated from her grandmother Yusairah - and she was one of those who emigrated - she said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to us: ‘Hold fast to At-Tasbih, At-Tahlil, and At-Taqdis, and count them upon the fingertips, for indeed they shall be questioned, and they will be made to speak. And do not become heedless, so that you forget about the Mercy (of Allah).’”
