Translation

Anas said that: The Prophet (ﷺ) entered the Masjid and there was a man who had performed Salat and was supplicating. He was saying in his supplication: “O Allah, none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, You are the One Who gives blessings, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Possessor of glory and generosity (Allāhumma lā ilāha illā ant, al-Mannān, Badī`us-samāwāti wal-arḍ, Dhal-Jalāli wal Ikrām).” So the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Do you know what he has supplicated Allah with? He has supplicated to Allah by His Greatest Name, the one which if He Is called upon by it, He responds, and when He is asked by it, He gives.”

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي الثَّلْجِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَغْدَادَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ صَاحِبُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ زَرْبِيٍّ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ، وَثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَسْجِدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرَجُلٌ قَدْ صَلَّى وَهُوَ يَدْعُو وَيَقُولُ فِي دُعَائِهِ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ الْمَنَّانُ بَدِيعُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ أَتَدْرُونَ بِمَ دَعَا اللَّهَ ؟ دَعَا اللَّهَ بِاسْمِهِ الْأَعْظَمِ الَّذِي إِذَا دُعِيَ بِهِ أَجَابَ وَإِذَا سُئِلَ بِهِ أَعْطَى . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ ثَابِتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رُوِيَ مِنْ غَيْرِ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَنَسٍ.

انس رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم مسجد میں آئے، ایک شخص نماز پڑھ رہا تھا اور دعا مانگتے ہوئے وہ اپنی دعا میں کہہ رہا تھا: «اللهم لا إله إلا أنت المنان بديع السموات والأرض ذا الجلال والإكرام» ”اے اللہ! تیرے سوا کوئی اور معبود برحق نہیں ہے، تو ہی احسان کرنے والا ہے تو ہی آسمانوں اور زمین کا بنانے و پیدا کرنے والا ہے، اے بڑائی والے اور کرم کرنے والے ( میری دعا قبول فرما ) “، نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”کیا تم جانتے ہو اس نے کس چیز سے دعا کی ہے؟ اس نے اللہ سے اس کے اس اسم اعظم کے ذریعہ دعا کی ہے کہ جب بھی اس کے ذریعہ دعا کی جائے گی اللہ اسے قبول کر لے گا، اور جب بھی اس کے ذریعہ کوئی چیز مانگی جائے گی اسے عطا فرما دے گا“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث اس سند سے غریب ہے، ۲- یہ حدیث اس سند کے علاوہ دوسری سند سے بھی انس سے آئی ہے۔

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “May the man before whom I am mentioned - and he does not send Salat upon me - be humiliated. And may a man upon whom Ramadan enters and then passes, before he is forgiven, be humiliated. And may a man whose parents reached old age in his presence, and they were not a cause for his entrance to Paradise, be humiliated.”

`Ali bin Abi Talib narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “The stingy person is the one before whom I am mentioned, and he does not send Salat upon me.”

`Abdullah bin [Abi] Awfa narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to say: “O Allah, cool my heart with snow and hail and cold water. O Allah, cleanse my heart of sins as You cleanse a white garment of filth (Allāhumma barrid qalbī bith-thalji wal-baradi wal-mā’il-bārid. Allāhumma naqqi qalbī min al-khaṭāyā kamā naqqaitath-thawbal-abyaḍa min ad-dannas).”

Ibn `Umar narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whomsoever of you the door of supplication is opened for, the doors of mercy have been opened for him. And Allah is not asked for anything - meaning - more beloved to Him, than being asked for Al-`Āfiyah.” And the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “The supplication benefits against that which strikes and that which does not strike, so hold fast, O worshippers of Allah, to supplication.”

That was narrated to us by Al-Qasim bin Dinar Al-Kufi (who said): “Ishaq bin Mansur narrated to us, from Isra’il” with this (Another chain) Bilal narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Hold fast to Qiyam al-Lail, for it is the practice of the righteous before you, and indeed Qiyam al-Lail is a means of nearness to Allah, a means of prevention from sin, an expiation for bad deeds, and a barrier for the body against disease.”
