Ibn Abbas narrated: “I entered with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), I and Khalid bin Al-Walid, upon Maimunah so she brought us a vessel of milk. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) drank from it. I was upon his right and Khalid was upon left, so he said to me: ‘The (turn to) drink is for you, so if you wish, you could choose to grant it to Khalid.’ So I said: ‘I would not prefer anyone (above myself) for your leftovers.’ Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Whoever Allah feeds some food, then let him say: “O Allah, bless it for us, and feed us better than it, (Allāhumma bārik lanā fīhi wa aṭ`imnā khairan minhu)” and whomsoever Allah gives milk to drink, then let him say: “O Allah bless it for us, and grant us increase in it (Allāhumma bārik lanā fīhi wa zidnā minhu).” And the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, ‘There is nothing that suffices in the place of food and drink except for milk.’”

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي حَرْمَلَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ دَخَلْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَا وَخَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ عَلَى مَيْمُونَةَ فَجَاءَتْنَا بِإِنَاءٍ مِنْ لَبَنٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَشَرِبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَنَا عَلَى يَمِينِهِ وَخَالِدٌ عَلَى شِمَالِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ لِي:‏‏‏‏ الشَّرْبَةُ لَكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ شِئْتَ آثَرْتَ بِهَا خَالِدًا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ مَا كُنْتُ أُوثِرُ عَلَى سُؤْرِكَ أَحَدًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ أَطْعَمَهُ اللَّهُ الطَّعَامَ فَلْيَقُلْ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيهِ وَأَطْعِمْنَا خَيْرًا مِنْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَنْ سَقَاهُ اللَّهُ لَبَنًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلْيَقُلْ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيهِ وَزِدْنَا مِنْهُ . (حديث مرفوع) (حديث موقوف) وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَيْسَ شَيْءٌ يُجْزِئُ مَكَانَ الطَّعَامِ وَالشَّرَابِ غَيْرُ اللَّبَنِ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رَوَى بَعْضُهُمْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ حَرْمَلَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ:‏‏‏‏ عَمْرُو بْنُ حَرْمَلَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا يَصِحُّ.

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ میں اور خالد بن ولید رضی الله عنہ ( دونوں ) رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ ام المؤمنین میمونہ رضی الله عنہا کے گھر میں داخل ہوئے، وہ ایک برتن لے کر ہم لوگوں کے پاس آئیں، اس برتن میں دودھ تھا میں آپ کے دائیں جانب بیٹھا ہوا تھا اور خالد آپ کے بائیں طرف تھے، آپ نے دودھ پیا پھر مجھ سے فرمایا: ”پینے کی باری تو تمہاری ہے، لیکن تم چاہو تو اپنا حق ( اپنی باری ) خالد بن ولید کو دے دو“، میں نے کہا: آپ کا جوٹھا پینے میں اپنے آپ پر میں کسی کو ترجیح نہیں دے سکتا، پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جسے اللہ کھانا کھلائے، اسے کھا کر یہ دعا پڑھنی چاہیئے: «اللهم بارك لنا فيه وأطعمنا خيرا منه» ”اے اللہ! ہمیں اس میں برکت اور مزید اس سے اچھا کھلا“، اور جس کو اللہ دودھ پلائے اسے کہنا چاہیئے «اللهم بارك لنا فيه وزدنا منه» ”اے اللہ! ہمیں اس میں برکت اور مزید اس سے اچھا کھلا“، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”دودھ کے سوا کوئی ایسی چیز نہیں ہے جو کھانے اور پینے ( دونوں ) کی جگہ کھانے و پینے کی ضرورت پوری کر سکے“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن ہے، ۲- بعض محدثین نے یہ حدیث علی بن زید سے روایت کی ہے، اور انہوں نے عمر بن حرملہ کہا ہے۔ جب کہ بعض نے عمر بن حرملہ کہا ہے اور عمرو بن حرملہ کہنا صحیح نہیں ہے۔

Abu Umamah narrated that : when the table spread would be lifted from in front of him, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would say: “All praise is due to Allah, abundant, good, blessed praise, without being left off, nor being without need of it, O our Lord (Al-ḥamdulillāhi ḥamdan kathīran ṭayyiban mubārakan fīhi, ghaira muwadda`in, wa lā mustaghnan `anhu rabbanā).”

Abu Sa`eed [may Allah be pleased with him] narrated that: When the Prophet (ﷺ) used to eat or drink, he would say: “All praise is due to Allah who fed us and gave us drink, and made us Muslims (Al-ḥamdulillāh, alladhī aṭ`amanā, wa saqānā, wa ja`alanā muslimīn).”

Sahl bin Mu`adh bin Anas narrated from his father that: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever eats food and then says: ‘All praise is due to Allah who fed me this and granted it as provision to me, without any effort from me nor power, (Al-ḥamdulillāh, alladhī aṭ`amanī hādha wa razaqanīhi min ghairi ḥawlin minnī, wa lā quwwatin)’ his past sins shall be forgiven.”

Abu Hurairah [may Allah be pleased with him] narrated that: The Prophet said: “when you hear the crowing of the roosters, then ask Allah of His bounty, for verily they have seen an angel. When you hear the braying of a donkey, then seek refuge in Allah from Shaitan, [the rejected] for, verily, it has seen a Shaitan.”

Abdullah bin Amr narrated that : the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “there is not anyone upon the earth who says: ‘None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest, and there is no might nor power except by Allah, (Lā ilāha illallāh, wa Allāhu akbar, wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh) except that his sins shall be pardoned, even if they were like the foam of the sea.”

Abu Musa Al-Ash`ari said: “We were with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) on a military expedition. When we returned, we overlooked Al-Madinah, and the people were pronouncing the Takbir, and they raised their voices with it. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Verily, your Lord is not deaf nor absent, [and] He is between you and between the heads of your mounts.’ Then he said: ‘O `Abdullah bin Qais, should I not inform you of a treasure from the treasures of Paradise: Lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh (There is no might or power except by Allah).’”
