Abdullah bin `Amr [may Allah be pleased with both of them] said: “The Messenger of Allah said: ‘There are two characteristics over which a Muslim man does not guard, except that he enters Paradise. And indeed, they are easy, and those who act upon them are few: He glorifies Allah at the end of every prayer ten times (saying Subḥān Allāh) and praises Him ten times saying (Al-Ḥamdulillāh) and extols His greatness ten times (saying Allāhu Akbar).’”He said: “And I have seen the Messenger of Allah counting them with his hand. He said: ‘So this is one hundred and fifty with the tongue, and one thousand and five hundred on the Scale. When you go to bed, you glorify Him, extol His greatness, and praise Him a hundred times, so this is one hundred with the tongue and one thousand on the Scale. Which of you perform two thousand and five hundred evil deeds in a single day and night?’ They said: ‘How could we not guard over them?’ He said: ‘Shaitan comes to one of you when he is in his Salat and says: “Remember such and such, remember such and such” until he turns perhaps he will not do it. And he comes to him and he is lying down and makes him sleepy until he falls asleep.’”

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَطَاءُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ خَلَّتَانِ لَا يُحْصِيهِمَا رَجُلٌ مُسْلِمٌ إِلَّا دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ أَلَا وَهُمَا يَسِيرٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَنْ يَعْمَلُ بِهِمَا قَلِيلٌ:‏‏‏‏ يُسَبِّحُ اللَّهَ فِي دُبُرِ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ عَشْرًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيَحْمَدُهُ عَشْرًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيُكَبِّرُهُ عَشْرًا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَنَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَعْقِدُهَا بِيَدِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَتِلْكَ خَمْسُونَ وَمِائَةٌ بِاللِّسَانِ وَأَلْفٌ وَخَمْسُ مِائَةٍ فِي الْمِيزَانِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِذَا أَخَذْتَ مَضْجَعَكَ تُسَبِّحُهُ وَتُكَبِّرُهُ وَتَحْمَدُهُ مِائَةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَتِلْكَ مِائَةٌ بِاللِّسَانِ وَأَلْفٌ فِي الْمِيزَانِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَيُّكُمْ يَعْمَلُ فِي الْيَوْمِ وَاللَّيْلَةِ أَلْفَيْنِ وَخَمْسَ مِائَةِ سَيِّئَةٍ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ فَكَيْفَ لَا يُحْصِيهَا ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَأْتِي أَحَدَكُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ وَهُوَ فِي صَلَاتِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَيَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ اذْكُرْ كَذَا اذْكُرْ كَذَا حَتَّى يَنْفَتِلَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَعَلَّهُ لَا أَنْ يَفْعَلُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيَأْتِيهِ وَهُوَ فِي مَضْجَعِهِ فَلَا يَزَالُ يُنَوِّمُهُ حَتَّى يَنَامَ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رَوَى شُعْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالثَّوْرِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرَوَى الْأَعْمَشُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ مُخْتَصَرًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَفِي الْبَابِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ.

عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”دو عادتیں ایسی ہیں جنہیں جو بھی مسلمان پابندی اور پختگی سے اپنائے رہے گا وہ جنت میں جائے گا، دھیان سے سن لو، دونوں آسان ہیں مگر ان پر عمل کرنے والے تھوڑے ہیں، ہر نماز کے بعد دس بار اللہ کی تسبیح کرے ( سبحان اللہ کہے ) دس بار حمد بیان کرے ( الحمدللہ کہے ) اور دس بار اللہ کی بڑائی بیان کرے ( اللہ اکبر کہے ) ۔ عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں: میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو انہیں اپنی انگلیوں پر شمار کرتے ہوئے دیکھا ہے، آپ نے فرمایا: ”یہ تو زبان سے گننے میں ڈیڑھ سو ۱؎ ہوئے لیکن یہ ( دس گنا بڑھ کر ) میزان میں ڈیڑھ ہزار ہو جائیں گے۔ ( یہ ایک خصلت و عادت ہوئی ) اور ( دوسری خصلت و عادت یہ ہے کہ ) جب تم بستر پر سونے جاؤ تو سو بار سبحان اللہ، اللہ اکبر اور الحمدللہ کہو، یہ زبان سے کہنے میں تو سو ہیں لیکن میزان میں ہزار ہیں، ( اب بتاؤ ) کون ہے تم میں جو دن و رات ڈھائی ہزار گناہ کرتا ہو؟ لوگوں نے کہا: ہم اسے ہمیشہ اور پابندی کے ساتھ کیوں نہیں کر سکیں گے؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ” ( اس وجہ سے ) کہ تم میں سے کوئی نماز پڑھ رہا ہوتا ہے، شیطان اس کے پاس آتا ہے اور اس سے کہتا ہے: فلاں بات کو یاد کرو، فلاں چیز کو سوچ لو، یہاں تک کہ وہ اس کی توجہ اصل کام سے ہٹا دیتا ہے، تاکہ وہ اسے نہ کر سکے، ایسے ہی آدمی اپنے بستر پر ہوتا ہے اور شیطان آ کر اسے ( تھپکیاں دیدے کر ) سلاتا رہتا ہے یہاں تک کہ وہ ( بغیر تسبیحات پڑھے ) سو جاتا ہے ۲؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- شعبہ اور ثوری نے یہ حدیث عطاء بن سائب سے روایت کی ہے۔ اور اعمش نے یہ حدیث عطاء بن سائب سے اختصار کے ساتھ روایت کی ہے، ۳- اس باب میں زید بن ثابت، انس اور ابن عباس رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں۔

Abdullah bin Amr [may Allah be pleased with him] said: “I saw the Messenger of Allah counting At-Tasbīḥ.”

Ka’b bin Ujrah narrated that: The Prophet said: “There are Mu’aqqibat, he who says them shall not be miserable. Glorify Allah at the end of every prayer thirty-three times, and praise him thirty-three times, and extol His greatness thirty-four times.”

Zaid bin Thabit (ra) said: “We were ordered to say the Tasbīḥ at the end of every Salat thirty-three times, and to say the Takbīr thirty-four times.” He said: “Then a man from the Ansar had a dream in which someone said: ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ordered you to say the Tasbīḥ at the end of every Salat thirty-three times, and to say the Taḥmīd thirty-three times, and to say the Takbīr thirty-four times?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘Then make them twenty-five and add the Tahlīl (saying Lā ilāha illallāh) to them.’ The next day he went to the Prophet (ﷺ) and informed him, so he said: “Do it.”

`Ubadah bin As-Samit, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever wakes up in the night and says, ‘None has the right to be worshiped but Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs the Dominion, and to Him is the praise, and He has power over all things. And Glory is to Allah, and all the praise is to Allah, and ‘None has the right to be worshiped but Allah, and Allah is the greatest, and there is no might nor power except by Allah (Lā ilāha illallāh, waḥdahu lā sharīka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu, wa huwa `alā kulli shai'in qadīr. Wa subḥān Allah, walḥamdulillāh, wa lā ilāha illallāh, wa Allāhu akbar, wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh.)’ – then he said: ‘O my Lord, forgive me (Rabbighfirlī)’ – or he said – ‘then he supplicates, he shall be responded to. So he makes a firm determination, then performs Wudu', then he performs Salat, his Salat shall be accepted.”

Maslamah bin `Amr said: “`Umair bin Hani used to perform a thousand prostrations every day and recite a hundred thousand Tasbīḥs every day.”

Rabi`ah bin Ka`b Al-Aslami said: “I used to spend the night at the door of the Prophet (ﷺ), so that I may give him his water for Wudu', and I would hear him, for a long period of the night, saying: ‘Allah hears the one who praise Him (Sami` Allāhu liman ḥamidah).’ And I would hear him, for a long period saying: ‘All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the all that exists. (Al-ḥamdulillāhi rabbil-`ālamīn).’”
