Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: A man from Banu Sahm went out with Tamim Ad-Dari and 'Adi bin Badda. The Sahmi man died in a land in which there were no Muslims. When they arrived with what he left behind, they searched for a bowl made of silver which was inlaid with gold. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had the two of them take an oath. Then they found the bowl in Makkah, and the person said: 'We purchased it from Tamim and 'Adi.' So two men among the relatives of the Sahmi man stood to take an oath by Allah that they (his family) had more right to it than them. He said: So it was about them that the following was revealed: O you who believe! (When death approaches any of you then) take the testimony (5:106).

حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ خَرَجَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي سَهْمٍ مَعَ تَمِيمٍ الدَّارِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَدِيِّ بْنِ بَدَّاءٍ فَمَاتَ السَّهْمِيُّ بِأَرْضٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا مُسْلِمٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَّا قَدِمَا بِتَرِكَتِهِ فَقَدُوا جَامًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ مُخَوَّصًا بِالذَّهَبِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَحْلَفَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ وُجِدَ الْجَامُ بِمَكَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقِيلَ:‏‏‏‏ اشْتَرَيْنَاهُ مِنْ عَدِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَتَمِيمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَامَ رَجُلَانِ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءِ السَّهْمِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَحَلَفَا بِاللَّهِ لَشَهَادَتُنَا أَحَقُّ مِنْ شَهَادَتِهِمَا وَأَنَّ الْجَامَ لِصَاحِبِهِمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِيهِمْ نَزَلَتْ يَأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا شَهَادَةُ بَيْنِكُمْ سورة المائدة آية 106 ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ وَهُوَ حَدِيثُ ابْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ.

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ بنی سہم کا ایک شخص، تمیم داری اور عدی بن بداء کے ساتھ ( سفر پر ) نکلا اور یہ سہمی ( جو تمیم داری اور عدی کا ہم سفر تھا ) ایک ایسی سر زمین میں انتقال کر گیا جہاں کوئی مسلمان نہ تھا، جب اس کے دونوں ساتھی اس کا ترکہ لے کر آئے تو اس کے گھر والے ( ورثاء ) کو اس کے متروکہ سامان میں چاندی کا وہ پیالہ نہ ملا جس پر سونے کا جڑاؤ تھا، چنانچہ ( جب مقدمہ پیش ہوا ) رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان دونوں سے قسم کھلائی۔ ( اور انہوں نے قسم کھا لی کہ ہمیں پیالہ نہیں ملا تھا ) لیکن وہ پیالہ سہمی کے گھر والوں کو مکہ میں کسی اور کے پاس مل گیا، انہوں نے بتایا کہ ہم نے تمیم اور عدی سے اسے خریدا ہے۔ تب سہمی کے وارثین میں سے دو شخص کھڑے ہوئے۔ اور انہوں نے اللہ کی قسم کھا کر کہا کہ ہماری شہادت ان دونوں کی گواہی سے زیادہ سچی ہے۔ اور پیالہ ہمارے ہی آدمی کا ہے۔ ابن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں: انہیں لوگوں کے بارے میں «يا أيها الذين آمنوا شهادة بينكم» والی آیت نازل ہوئی ہے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن غریب ہے، یہ ابن ابی زائدہ کی روایت ہے۔

Narrated 'Ammar bin Yasir: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'The Ma'idah was sent down from the Heavens with bread and meat. And they were commanded to not be deceitful with it and hide it for tomorrow. So they were deceitful with it and they hid it, so it was raised up in the morning. Then they were transformed into monkeys and pigs.'

Narrated Abu Hurairah: 'Eisa was taught his argument, Allah taught him regarding His saying: And when Allah will say: 'O 'Eisa, son of Mariam! Did you say unto men 'Worship me and my mother as two gods besides Allah?' Abu Hurairah narrated from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ): So Allah taught him: 'Glory be to You! It was not for me to say what I had no right (to say) (5:116).' The entire Ayah.

Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah: When Allah revealed this Ayah: 'Say: He has the power to send torment on you from above or from under your feet...' The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'I seek refuge in Your Face.' So when (the following) was revealed: 'Or to cover you in confusion in party strife, and make you taste the violence of one another (6:65).' The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'This is less burdensome' or 'This is easier.'
