Ibn Umar narrated: When the Prophet would sit during the Salat, he would place his right hand on his knee, and raise his finger, the one that is next to the [right] thumb, supplicating with it, and his left hand was spread flat on his left knee.

حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، وَيَحْيَى بْنُ مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا جَلَسَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى رُكْبَتِهِ وَرَفَعَ إِصْبَعَهُ الَّتِي تَلِي الْإِبْهَامَ الْيُمْنَى يَدْعُو بِهَا وَيَدُهُ الْيُسْرَى عَلَى رُكْبَتِهِ بَاسِطَهَا عَلَيْهِ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ،‏‏‏‏ وَنُمَيْرٍ الْخُزَاعِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبِي حُمَيْدٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَوَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ ابْنِ عُمَرَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا نَعْرِفُهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَيْهِ عِنْدَ بَعْضِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالتَّابِعِينَ يَخْتَارُونَ الْإِشَارَةَ فِي التَّشَهُّدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ قَوْلُ أَصْحَابِنَا.

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی الله عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم صلی الله علیہ وسلم جب نماز میں بیٹھتے تو اپنا دایاں ہاتھ اپنے ( دائیں ) گھٹنے پر رکھتے اور اپنے داہنے ہاتھ کے انگوٹھے کے قریب والی انگلی اٹھاتے اور اس سے دعا کرتے یعنی اشارہ کرتے، اور اپنا بایاں ہاتھ اپنے ( بائیں ) گھٹنے پر پھیلائے رکھتے ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- اس باب میں عبداللہ بن زبیر، نمیر خزاعی، ابوہریرہ، ابوحمید اور وائل بن حجر رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۲- ابن عمر کی حدیث حسن غریب ہے، ہم اسے عبیداللہ بن عمر کی حدیث سے صرف اسی سند سے جانتے ہیں، ۳- صحابہ کرام اور تابعین میں سے اہل علم کا اسی پر عمل تھا، یہ لوگ تشہد میں انگلی سے اشارہ کرنے کو پسند کرتے اور یہی ہمارے اصحاب کا بھی قول ہے۔

Abdullah narrated: The Prophet would say the Salam from his right and from his left (saying): (As-Salamu alaikum wa rahmatullah, as-Salamu alaikum wa rahmatullah) 'Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy. Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy.'

Aishah narrated: Allah's Messenger would say one Taslim for the Salat while facing forward and turning to his right side a little.

Aishah narrated: When Allah's Messenger said the Salam he would not remain seated except long enough to say: (Allahumma antas-salam, wa minkas-salam, tabarakta dhal jalali wal-Ikram) 'O Allah! You are the One free of defects, and perfection is from You. Blessed are You, Possessor of Majesty and Honor.'

Aishah narrated: (Another chain) which is similar, but he said: (Tabarakta ya dhal-jalali wal-ikram) Blessed are You, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor.

Thawban, the freed slave of Allah's Messenger, narrated that : Allah's Messenger said: When Allah's Messenger wanted to turn from his Salat, he would seek forgiveness from Allah three times, then say: (Allahumma Antas-Salam, wa minkas-salam, tabarakta ya dhal-jalali wal-Ikram) 'O Allah! You are the One free of defects and perfection is from You. Blessed are You, O Possesor of Majesty and Honor.'
