Narrated Al-Bara' bin 'Azib: A Marfu' narration (from the Prophet (ﷺ)), saying: A crippled animal whose limp is obvious is not to be slaughtered as sacrifice, nor an animal with a bad eye whose blindness is obvious, nor a sick animal whose sickness is obvious, nor an emaciated animal that has no marrow (in its bones).
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ،‏‏‏‏ أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاق،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ فَيْرُوزَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ،‏‏‏‏ رَفَعَهُ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا يُضَحَّى بِالْعَرْجَاءِ بَيِّنٌ ظَلَعُهَا،‏‏‏‏ وَلَا بِالْعَوْرَاءِ بَيِّنٌ عَوَرُهَا،‏‏‏‏ وَلَا بِالْمَرِيضَةِ بَيِّنٌ مَرَضُهَا،‏‏‏‏ وَلَا بِالْعَجْفَاءِ الَّتِي لَا تُنْقِي ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ،‏‏‏‏ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ فَيْرُوزَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَهُ بِمَعْنَاهُ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ،‏‏‏‏ لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ حَدِيثِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ فَيْرُوزَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ الْبَرَاءِ،‏‏‏‏ وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ.
براء بن عازب رضی الله عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”ایسے لنگڑے جانور کی قربانی نہ کی جائے جس کا لنگڑا پن واضح ہو، نہ ایسے اندھے جانور کی جس کا اندھا پن واضح ہو، نہ ایسے بیمار جانور کی جس کی بیماری واضح ہو، اور نہ ایسے لاغر و کمزور جانور کی قربانی کی جائے جس کی ہڈی میں گودا نہ ہو“ ۱؎۔ اس سند سے بھی براء بن عازب رضی الله عنہما سے اسی جیسی حدیث مروی ہے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، اسے ہم صرف عبید بن فیروز کی حدیث سے جانتے ہیں انہوں نے براء سے روایت کی ہے، ۲- اہل علم کا اسی پر عمل ہے۔

I saw Abu Hurairah and I asked him about it, so he said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying: The best male - or - female Udhiyah is that from the Jadha' sheep. He said: So the people took note of that (they became interested in buying).

Narrated 'Uqbah bin 'Amir: That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave him sheep to distribute among his Companions as a sacrifice. There remained a young male kid or a young billy goat, so I mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he said: 'Sacrifice it for yourself.' Waki' said: The Jadha' among sheep is seven or six months.

Narrated Hujayyah bin 'Adi: Ali said: 'A cow is for seven.' I said: And if it gives birth?' He said: 'Then slaughter its offspring with it.' I said: 'What if it is lame?' He said: 'When it has reached the place of ritual.' I said: 'What if it has a broken horn?' He said: 'There is no harm, we were ordered' - or - 'The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ordered us, to check the two eyes and the two ears.'
