Narrated 'Aishah: That the Prophet (ﷺ) used to cut the hand for a fourth of a Dinar and beyond that.

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ،‏‏‏‏ أَخْبَرَتْهُ عَمْرَةُ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ،‏‏‏‏ أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ:‏‏‏‏ يَقْطَعُ فِي رُبُعِ دِينَارٍ فَصَاعِدًا ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ عَائِشَةَ،‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ،‏‏‏‏ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ مِنْ غَيْرِ وَجْهٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَمْرَةَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ،‏‏‏‏ مَرْفُوعًا.

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی الله عنہا سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم چوتھائی دینار ۱؎ اور اس سے زیادہ کی چوری پر ہاتھ کاٹتے تھے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- عائشہ رضی الله عنہا کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- یہ حدیث دوسری سندوں سے عمرہ کے واسطہ سے عائشہ رضی الله عنہا سے مرفوعاً آئی ہے، جب کہ بعض لوگوں نے اسے عمرہ کے واسطہ سے عائشہ رضی الله عنہا سے موقوفاً روایت کیا ہے۔

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) cut the hand for a shield worth three Dirham.

Abdur-Rahman bin Muhariz said: I asked Fadalah bin 'Ubaid about hanging the hand around the neck of the thief: 'Is this from the Sunnah?' He said: 'A man came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) with a thief so his hand was cut off, and then he ordered that it be hung around his neck.'

Narrated Jabir : That the Prophet (ﷺ) said: There is no cutting of the hand for the traitor, or the embezzler, nor the plunderer.
