Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Whoever takes the responsibility of judge, or is appointed as judge between the people, then he has been slaughtered without a knife.
حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْفُضَيْلُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ وَلِيَ الْقَضَاءَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ جُعِلَ قَاضِيًا بَيْنَ النَّاسِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَدْ ذُبِحَ بِغَيْرِ سِكِّينٍ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رُوِيَ أَيْضًا مِنْ غَيْرِ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جس شخص کو منصب قضاء پر فائز کیا گیا یا جو لوگوں کا قاضی بنایا گیا، ( گویا ) وہ بغیر چھری کے ذبح کیا گیا“ ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث اس طریق سے حسن غریب ہے، ۲- اور یہ اس سند کے علاوہ دوسری سند سے بھی ابوہریرہ سے مروی ہے انہوں نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کی ہے۔

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: When the judge passes a judgement in which he strived and was correct, then he receives two rewards. And when he judges and is mistaken, then he receives one reward.

Some men who were companions of Mu'adh narrated from Mu'adh that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent Mu'adh to Yemen, so he (ﷺ) said: How will you judge? He said: I will judge according to what is in Allah's Book. He said: If it is not in Allah's Book ? He said: Then with the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). He said: If it is not in the Sunnah of Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)? He said: I will give in my view. He said: All praise is due to Allah, the One Who made the messenger of the Messenger of Allah suitable.
