Ali bin Abi Talib narrated that: The Messenger of Allah said to him: O Ali! Three are not to be delayed: Salat when it is due, the funeral when it is presented, and (marriage) for the single woman when someone compatible is found.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْجُهَنِيِّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ لَهُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا عَلِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثَلَاثٌ لَا تُؤَخِّرْهَا:‏‏‏‏ الصَّلَاةُ إِذَا أَتَتْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْجَنَازَةُ إِذَا حَضَرَتْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْأَيِّمُ إِذَا وَجَدْتَ لَهَا كُفْئًا . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَا أَرَى إِسْنَادَهُ بِمُتَّصِلٍ.

علی بن ابی طالب رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان سے فرمایا: ”علی! تین چیزوں میں دیر نہ کرو: نماز کو جب اس کا وقت ہو جائے، جنازہ کو جب آ جائے، اور بیوہ ( کے نکاح ) کو جب تم اس کا کفو ( مناسب ہمسر ) پا لو“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث غریب ہے، ۲- میں اس کی سند متصل نہیں جانتا۔

Abdullah bin Mas'ud narrated: We went with Allah's Messenger, while we were young men who had nothing. He said: 'O young men! You should marry, for indeed it helps in lowering the gaze and protecting the private parts. Whoever among you is not able to marry, then let him fast, for indeed fasting will diminish his sexual desire.
