Aishah narrated: When the Messenger of Allah died, they disagreed over where to bury him. So Abu Bakr said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah saying something which I have not forgotten, he said: Allah does not take (the life of ) a Prophet except at the location in which He wants him to be buried.' So they buried him at the spot of his bed.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ لَمَّا قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اخْتَلَفُوا فِي دَفْنِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْئًا مَا نَسِيتُهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا قَبَضَ اللَّهُ نَبِيًّا إِلَّا فِي الْمَوْضِعِ الَّذِي يُحِبُّ أَنْ يُدْفَنَ فِيهِ . ادْفِنُوهُ فِي مَوْضِعِ فِرَاشِهِ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُلَيْكِيُّ يُضَعَّفُ مِنْ قِبَلِ حِفْظِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ مِنْ غَيْرِ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَرَوَاهُ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَيْضًا.
ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی الله عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ   جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی وفات ہوئی تو آپ کی تدفین کے سلسلے میں لوگوں میں اختلاف ہوا ۱؎ ابوبکر رضی الله عنہ نے کہا: میں نے رسول اللہ سے ایک ایسی بات سنی ہے جو میں بھولا نہیں ہوں، آپ نے فرمایا: ”جتنے بھی نبی ہوئے ہیں اللہ نے ان کی روح وہیں قبض کی ہے جہاں وہ دفن کیا جانا پسند کرتے تھے ( اس لیے ) تم لوگ انہیں ان کے بستر ہی کے مقام پر دفن کرو“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث غریب ہے، عبدالرحمٰن بن ابی بکر ملیکی اپنے حفظ کے تعلق سے ضعیف گردانے جاتے ہیں، ۲- یہ حدیث اس کے علاوہ طریق سے بھی مروی ہے۔ ابن عباس نے ابوبکر صدیق سے اور انہوں نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کی ہے۔

When I wanted to leave he took me by my hand and said: 'Shall I not inform you of some good new O Abu Sinan!' I said: 'Of course.' He said: 'Ad-Dahhak bin Abdur-Rahman bin Arzab narrated to me, from Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari: The Messenger of Allah said: 'When a child of the slave (of Allah) died, Allah says to the angels: Have you taken the fruits of his work. They reply: Yes. So He says: What did My slave say? They reply: He praised you and mentioned that to You is the return. So Allah says: Build a house in Paradise for My slave, and name it 'the house of praise.'

Forgive our living and our deceased, our present and our absent, our young and our old, our male and our female.'
